I got asked how to smooth terrain when you use my height stamps in case the variation is too intense. My stamps are designed for a certain height, so eg 120 meters for a meadows environment just won't do. Meadows aren't mountains. Of course it all depends also on your terrain resolution and other factors. However if you still want to use that stamp, or any other category stamp for the matter and get into a situation in which you want to smooth the terrain, the most performant answer is to use the mip map bias of the MicroVerse height stamp.

For that you need to:

activate mip map on the heightmap, ie the texture
adjust the mip map bias on the height stamp

By using mip maps the textures will get blurred implicitly by Unity means. This will also give you the additional benefit of performance in edit mode because the stamp doesn't have to be blurred during edit mode in every frame. Alternatively you can of course use any image editor and blur the stamp, but having the values change dynamically is a much higher benefit during realtime editing.

00:24 Activate "Generate Mipmaps"
00:30 Adjust smoothness using Mip Bias
00:40 Add biome to show automatic vegetation adjustment
