"Lie Detector" (Lie Detector) on the STB TV channel is a socio-psychological project about the secrets and weaknesses of ordinary people. The program's characters, researchers, tax inspectors, school principals, doctors, and teachers come to "Lie Detector" to share their life stories, which were often a closely guarded secret even for most of their loved ones, and taboo for society.
People are ready to answer difficult, and sometimes even unpleasant, questions truthfully and honestly in the "Lie Detector" chair. For them, the project's studio is their last chance to confess, repent, understand, forgive, and, importantly, to try to be heard by their loved ones.
In the studio, the program's protagonist answers difficult questions posed to them by host Dmitry Karpachev using a polygraph. Relatives, loved ones, or people involved in the protagonist's story are present, reacting to and commenting on their answers. The key requirement is sincerity.
Since the fourth season, "Lie Detector" has also featured celebrity contestants. Participants include: "Maski-show" actor Georgy Deliyev, journalist Otar Kushanashvili, Russian actor Alexey Panin, singer Prokhor Shalyapin and his wife, Larisa Kopenkina, and singer and former member of the group "Tatu" Yulia Volkova. Public figures are accustomed to acting freely in front of television cameras, and so, on the one hand, it was easier for them to come on "Lie Detector," as they know how to talk about themselves. On the other hand, it was more difficult, as they do so in a very specific way, trying to present themselves in an exclusively favorable light. But host Dmitry Karpachov can't fool a polygraph. Therefore, the studio revealed previously unseen details about the celebrity contestants' lives.
Telling the truth about yourself isn't always easy, but the "Lie Detector" studio often becomes the contestants' last chance to admit to themselves the most difficult and challenging things. If the detector catches a participant in a lie, it ends the game.
