This witty web series follows the virtual lives of a handful academics playing Minecraft together. An online adventure of fun, smarts and drama. In the last episode of the season, simonchronos (Isaac Lenhart) delves into what’s really motivating him and his fellow players, and suggests viewing the structures in terms of the time each cubic unit component costs. The 'mLab server' is one of the most modded Minecraft servers in the world. But what makes it really special is that it is owned by academic game research centres of Concordia University where the players—students and professors—all work together in real life. Their real life friendships, objectives and conflicts result in fascinating, self-reflexive and sometimes explosive gameplay.
ABOUT simonchronos
Isaac Lenhart is a PhD student at Concordia University, focusing on imagination and the social understandings of technology artifacts (particularly in esoteric social interaction methods). He holds a Bachelor of Arts and Technology from the University of Texas at Dallas, and a Masters of Science in Digital Media from the I.T. University of Copenhagen. His background includes a great deal of software studies and systems architecture, leavened with a healthy dose of analytical games studies.
