Multidrone on a Djalu Yidaki - Didgeridoo
Filmed at the Grand Canyon. This was an instrument I made with Djalu that had a wider bore than most of what he makes. It was painted by his wife Dhopyia. The wider bore allowed me to open the wax mouthpiece up to 38mm wide, 34 mm tall. The larger mouthpiece diameter is what makes it possible to play an octave below the fundamental drone note (the drop octave). If you have a wide bore instrument with a wax mouthpiece, it may be the best thing for you to learn multidrone on! This is actually the very first instrument I ever hit the drop octave on in 2008, before I started crafting my instruments to specifically facilitate playing below the drone (aka multidrone).
