Channels of Communication
There are two broad channels of communication - External and Internal.
The Internal Channel has two types: Formal and Informal.
The Formal Channel is based on hierarchy and authority. It is based on a well-ordered network in the organization.
The three types of formal channel are : Vertical, Horizontal and Diagonal
The Informal Channel is the flow of unofficial messages in an organization, which spreads like wildfire. It is also called the Grapevine. The Informal channel can be put to good use by the Management as it is difficult to be entirely eliminated from the organization.
