Sometimes it's easy to see where the inspiration for a particular level came from. For this one, the concept is clearly "wedding in hell". The author's clearly spent some time coming up with a nicely hellish chapel, with burning torches, wooden pews, an aisle that's a river of blood, upside down crosses, an image of Baphomet, etc... and of course a congregation of monsters. Nothing amazing by modern standards, but it still works very well as a memorable space. The rest of the level is a pretty basic collection of passages and secret areas. It's done well enough, and the decoration and low lighting keeps them from feeling too bland, but they're much too short for the player to work up any interest. A couple of minutes into this level and it's already over.
Still, it's quite a lot of fun to push for speed here. Good shotgun practice certainly, with a couple of nice ambush situations, and passages that make you feel fast running through them. And the chapel itself is an all out chaingun massacre. I threw myself right in the middle of it and got beat up pretty good but the infighting and quick slaughter was an appropriate reward. Played fast like this the level is action packed from start to finish. By the time I'd gotten a decently optimised time here I liked it a lot more.
There are five secret sectors here, but they're all inaccessible. Literally so, they don't have any geography in the map at all. Speculating here, but maybe there used to be another secret section of the map which the author decided to get rid of, but he only deleted the linedefs and not the sectors they were attached to. So they'd be left in the map but not attached to any particular physical structures, like ghosts. So anyway that's why the secret count is 0%.
