Strive & Rely on Allah for Guidance - Abu Mussab Wajdi Akkari
"What a person should do is know what level he is at, and he should not put himself in a higher position than he deserves. Indeed, the matter is more serious than that. He should fear Allaah, because it is the matter of halaal and haraam, of Paradise and Hell, so he should not indulge in matters that he does not have the knowledge and skill to deal with. " -- I'aanah al-Mustafeed bi Sharh Kitaab al-Tawheed
Ibn 'Awn said:
'Do not feel secure because of a great
number of deeds for you do not know
if they have been accepted or not.
Do not feel secure about your sins for you
do not know if they have been
expiated or not.
This is because all of your deeds are unseen to you and you
have no idea what Allaah will do with
them.'
[Selected from: The Journey to Allaah, Ibn Rajab Al-Hanbali]
"But as for anyone who desires the akhira, and strives for it with the striving it deserves, being a believer, the striving of such people will be gratefully acknowledged."(Surat al-Isra', 19)

Abu Hurayrah:
"That I sit a moment and learn myself about my religion, I hold it dearer to me than to pray all night until dawn"

The antidote for every type of fear is Tawheed (worship of Allaah alone). Security is only possible when the commandments of Allaah are obeyed.
Allaah تعالى says: {It is those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah and worship none but Him Alone) and confuse not their Belief with Zulm (wrong, i.e. by worshipping others besides Allaah), for them (only) there is SECURITY and they are the guided.} [Surah al-An`aam (6): 82]
He تعالى also says: {Allaah has promised those among you who believe and do righteous good deeds, that He will certainly grant them succession to (the present rulers) in the land, as He granted it to those before them, and that He will grant them the authority to practice their religion which He has chosen for them (i.e. Islâm). And He will surely give them in exchange a SAFE SECURITY after their FEAR (provided) they (believers) worship Me and do not associate anything (in worship) with Me. But whoever disbelieved after this, they are the Fâsiqûn (rebellious, disobedient to Allaah).} [Surah al-Noor (24): 55]

If anyone travels on a road in search of knowledge, Allah will cause him to travel on one of the roads of Paradise.
