Challenges of Scope 3 emissions accounting
Knowledge of a company's greenhouse gas emissions enables firms to:
✔️ Understand where emissions originate from and cut them
✔️ Monetise sustainability efforts and attract green investments
✔️ Improve the decision-making and product design
✔️ Comply with sustainability regulations
To harness these benefits, an emissions accounting mechanism should be set in place.
This, however, is challenging, especially for Scope 3 emissions, which account for around 85-95% of corporate emissions.
