Wilbert Thomas Longmire ( December 2, 1940 † January 3, 2018 ) was an American R&B and Jazz guitarist .
Wilbert Longmire played on the Cincinnati music scene in the early 1960s ; first recordings were made in 1963 with the Hank Marr Quartet ("The Greasy Spoon", Federal). He worked as a session musician for King Records , also with Red Prysock and Jack McDuff . In 1967 he recorded with Trudy Pitts / Bill Carney in New York .
Around 1968 he played his debut album Revolution (Wold Pacific) in Los Angeles ; the studio band led by Joe Sample included Gary Barone , George Bohanon , Anthony Ortega . Wilton Felder , Leon Spencer , Larry Gales and Paul Humphrey . In the following years he worked in Gerald Wilson's Big Band and Rusty Bryant . On the recommendation of George Benson , who referred him to Bob James , he was given the opportunity to record an album for the Columbia sub-label Tappan Zee Records (Sunny Side Up ). In the following years he also recorded the LPs Champagne (1978) and With All My Love (1980). In later years he played again with Hank Marr ( Groovin 'It ) and performed again in his hometown. [7] In the field of jazz, he participated in 22 recording sessions from 1963 to 2005.
