Devour Sends His Team To The World Finals In Style.
Lets set the scene, you're playing in the American play-offs in the CGS (Championship Gaming Series), the winner of this match gets a ticket to the world finals and the chance to win $1million whilst the loser heads home. The pressure on these CS:S teams was unreal, after 17 rounds they could barely be separated with Carolina Core just edging the scores 9-8 against the team many considered to be the best in the CGS, team 3D.
Team 3D had gone through a massive rebuilding project at the draft as they picked up both Nick 'nickn0it' Nowakowski and John 'Juan' Mumm from Pandemic, this seemed to work perfectly as in the pre-season the 3D franchise went 11-1 against the others, with the source team being the pick of the bunch. Core were huge underdogs in this match but the one card they had up their sleeve was Sam 'devour' Chamma.
On the final round of the CS:S match Core decided to go for a split on the B bombsite of de_inferno, it went horribly wrong as they lost 3 early trades, luckily devour and Torrez pulled back a couple of kills before Torrez fell to his death out of the apartments. This left Devour in a 1v2 situation and stuck on the bombsite, with one man in pit and one on arch side he didn't have much room to work anything, what he did do will go down as one of the most unbelievable clutches in the history of the game. A quickscope on Volcano who was pushing from archside was followed up by an audacious no-scope through the truck to the one standing in pit, winning the round, and the game for his team. The reaction from the shoutcasters showed just how good it was as they were left completely speechless, as were team 3D who were sent home without winning a single match in the play-off.
