CHP Chairman Özgür Özel spoke at the opening of the Parliamentary Group Working and Evaluation Meeting.
Özel said, "We are fully determined to withdraw the hand that was used in Esenyurt to control the will of the voters in Istanbul. The mayor of Türkiye's largest district applied to the government seven or eight months ago and said, 'I want to be a candidate for my party in Esenyurt. Am I eligible?' The government gave him a clean chit. The government also told Esenyurt, 'You can choose one of these candidates. I guarantee they are not terrorists.' One in every two people in Esenyurt chose Ahmet Özer." "THEY ARE TRYING TO BREAK IT WITH STATE OPPORTUNITIES"
Özel, who said, "There are people in Esenyurt whose futures have been stolen," said, "They haven't been able to reclaim Esenyurt, and they won't be able to. And neither will Istanbul... That's why they're doing this. They're trying to seize the authority they couldn't seize from the people, through trustees, in an unjust, unlawful, and unconstitutional manner. They're trying to break the very things they can't bend, with state resources."
"YOU ARE THE ONE WHO ACHIEVED A CHOSEN ROLE IN A MALICIOUS GAME"
Ozel said, "When Erdoğan was banned from politics for a poem he read, and when someone who was said to be 'not even a village headman' was subjected to this act to provoke others, the CHP stood against it." He continued:
"To make room for Erdoğan, members of parliament in Siirt were forced to resign, and coincidentally, Erdoğan became a member of parliament and then prime minister in the elections where that poem was recited. The AKP is a mindset that draws strength from the ban but now treats itself the same way. Even before the court has issued its ruling, the press is reporting, 'We are appointing trustees here and there.' You are appointing the trustee before the decision is even made. The Minister of the Interior and the Minister of Justice, who defend that this is a state governed by the rule of law, you are the ones who have assumed the chosen role in a malicious game."
"IF FETHULLAH GÜLEN WAS ALIVE, HE'D COME AND KISS YOU ON THE SHOULDER"
Özel, highlighting the teams' behavior during the operation on Ahmet Özer's house, said:
"At 5 a.m., they barge into the room where the man and his wife are staying and push the woman, saying we'll wake her up. This behavior is only done in the event of a suicide bomber; I asked and learned. You can't commit this kind of harassment. You call the man, his house, and who he is... You could go in the morning, search with lawyers, and get evidence to support your accusation... But there's no such thing. If Fethullah Gülen were alive, he'd come and kiss you on the shoulder. He'd say, 'Even we didn't do this.' If we looked at the AKP's history with Gülen, if we looked at their phone calls before 2016, they wouldn't be able to find enough people to form a group."
"YOU'LL SAY IT ON ALLEGATION"
Ozel, stating that the first paragraph of the letter announcing the appointment of a trustee to Ahmet Özer read, "He was arrested on the charge of being a member of the PKK terrorist organization." He continued, "You'll say it on allegations, this man was arrested on allegations. We'll see what happens, and we're waiting for the indictment. And you're the Minister of the Interior. All our lives are in this. And they might be part of a conspiracy."
AKIN GÜRLEK REACTION
Speaking to Erdoğan through Akın Gürlek, Özel continued:
"You put Barış Pehlivan, Barış Terkoğlu, Murat Ağırel, and Merdan Yanardağ there. Now you're unjustly and unlawfully detaining Can Atalay, Osman Kavala, and Tayfun Kahraman. Now, when you do this, will the public call them 'terrorists'? You're the same man who called İlker Başbuğ the head of a terrorist organization. Now you've found another Zekeriya Öz and are running the same game. Akın Gürlek is a mobile guillotine, the one who cuts off the neck of justice. Akın Gürlek is the one who banned Canan Kaftancıoğlu, Akın Gürlek is the one who banned the Hrant Dink case, Akın Gürlek is the one who tried the Sırrı Süreyya case. They're all in different courts. They're all running this errand in all of them. Go ahead and impose a ban in Ankara, Akın, and rush to Istanbul to commit a massacre, Akın."
