"For Greater Glory", the new "Cristero" movie starring Andy Garcia, opens June 1st in theaters all across the country. We had the distinct honor of previewing this epic film several weeks ago, which is based on a true story about Mexican religious persecution in the late 19020s, alongside Andy Garcia himself at the Tower Theater in Little Havana. The private screening was part of a Latino Film showcase organized and produced for Hispanicize 2012 by founder, Manny Ruiz and his collective.
After watching this emotional story, which chronicles the Cristero War (1926-1929); a war by the people of Mexico against their atheist Mexican government, guests at the private screening were able to chat with Andy Garcia, asking the hometown hero questions about the movie and his role in the independent multimillion dollar production, filmed in Mexico with an international cast and Mexican crew.
