Again I'm back with a highly personal video. Without getting too much into the lousy details: I'm healing and that's all that matters. Vash in all is a very tragic hero in his story and it is something I wanted to portray with this video. He feels guilty over the things that happened even though it isn't his fault. He also doesn't think he is worthy of love or having people around him. He longs for the acceptance of others but is afraid of it at the same time.
I think the manga is even better at showcasing this with him easily engaging with others but is terribly afraid of people getting too close. He's often treated with hate and disgust for what he is (in the manga people even throw stones at him) and named "The Humanoid Typhoon" for causing trouble. The fact that his brother is constantly gaslighting and manipulating him certainly does not help either. One thing I love about him so much that he doesn't turn to hate but accepts his fate and decides to try again and again anyway. And throughout the course of the story he does learn it's okay to let people close and he deserves to have friends who care.
This is a song I've wanted to edit for a very long time. Over a decade I think. I just never got around doing it because I was missing the perfect anime for it. But with this series and considering what songs would fit it the line: "If you had your gun, would you shoot it at the sky?" just made everything click in place. I had finally found the series to edit this song with.

Palaan jälleen editointipöydän ääreen erittäin henkilökohtaisella videolla. Ilman että menen liikaa yksityiskohtiin, sanottakoon että olen paranemassa ja se on ainoa asia, millä on väliä. Vash on tarinassaan todella traaginen sankari ja sen kokonaisuuden halusi sisällyttää tähän videoon. Hahmo tuntee syyllisyyttä menneistä tapahtumista, vaikka ne eivät olleet hänen syytään. Vash haluaa muiden hyväksyntää, mutta pelkää liikaa sitä samanaikaisesti.
Manga sisällyttää tämän narratiiviinsa vielä paremmin. Vash pintapuolisesti ottaa kontaktia ihmisiin mutta pelkää päästää heitä liian lähelle. Hahmoon reagoidaan usein vihalla ja inholla sen vuoksi millainen hän on (mangassa Vashia jopa *kivitetään*) sekä käytetään lisänimeä "The Humanoid Typhoon", koska hän aiheuttaa harmia ympärilleen. Asiaa ei auta, että Vashin veli on alati gaslightaamassa ja manipuloimassa sankariamme. Rakastan hahmoa erityisen paljon sen vuoksi, että tästä huolimatta hän ei itse vastaa vihaan vihalla vaan hyväksyy kohtalonsa ja päättää yrittää aina uudestaan. Tarinan aikana hän myös oppii, että hän voi päästää toiset lähelleen ja että ansaitsee ystäviä, jotka välittävät.
Olen halunnut editoida tämän kappaleen todella kauan. Varmaan vuosikymmenen. Mutta en koskaan lähtenyt sitä tekemään koska minulta puuttui täydellinen anime siihen. Selatessani ideoita tähän sarjaan ja mitkä kappaleet sopisivat, lyriikat: "If you had your gun, would you shoot it at the sky?" vaan klikkasi kaiken paikoilleen. Olin viimein löytänyt sarjan, johon editoida tämä biisi.
