👉 In computer networking, a hub is a device that connects multiple devices together in a local area network (LAN). Hubs work by broadcasting the data they receive from one device to all other devices that are connected to it, regardless of whether or not the data is intended for those devices.
Hubs were widely used in the early days of networking but have since been largely replaced by switches. Switches are able to direct data only to the devices that are intended to receive it, which results in faster network speeds and better overall performance.
