[Explanatory video] Why do we do open-pit mining in the first place?

☆Additional Explanation
Some people were wondering about the need for trenches, so I'll explain why they're necessary.
Large trenches, such as 12" wide.
Large trenches are necessary because the Eater itself needs space to descend.
Small trenches, such as 3" wide.
Trenches on the left and right are also necessary to prevent water from flowing in from outside the perimeter.
There's a reason for the 3" wide trench: when lava and water come into contact, cobblestone is generated, preventing water from flowing in.
Trenchless 1" wide trench.
Placing immovable blocks like anvils is necessary not only to prevent blast waves from reaching the ground, but also to stop sweepers.
Anvils are used because they can be set to "falling" and removed all at once.
The rest of the reason is the same as for the 3" wide trench.
