Messing around with Blender and it's particle system.
Used four particle systems simulating Boids. They flock, separate and avoid colliding with each other. Futhermore, they strive towards a sphere which repells them using a force. The spinning was achieved using a vortex forcefield.
The consist of a cone-shaped mesh with an emitting material and a (point-) light source.
