XD75 Kits Review - KPRepublic Build (Pt2)
So this is the follow on from • XD75 Kits Review - MassDrop vs KPRepublic ... where I had built the KPRepublic XD75 kit during my lifestream.
The kit itself is okay, but with lack of experience in doing ortho builds, I made a few mistakes on the way which I finally got through. The case has extra mount points which resulted in a short, but that was resolved with tape, and having so many extra screws in various baggies, it took me a while to find the right length, having struggled on the stream trying to figure out how to mount the PCB into the case. Gah.
That said, the end result, if you ignore the keycaps not being perfect for the default layout, its a solid feeling keyboard, and sounds great. It has lots of weigh to it, and if you're looking for a no-frills 75% ortho, this really could be it for you.
In any case, I'm glad that its built, and it works.
