Why This Door is So THIN ?
You may wonder why this door is so thin.
Well, this door is from the monastery of Alcobarça Portugal and it has this characteristic because it was used to keep the monks thin.
This door of 2 meters high and only 32 centimeters wide was the entrance to the dining room.
It was built to prevent overweight gluttonous monks who did not stop eating from gaining access to the hall.
Allegedly, each monk was required to pass through it from the refectory to the kitchen to fetch his own meal. Those who couldn’t squeeze through were out of luck.
