On Thursday (13.10.2022), two semi trucks collided on the A61 near Meckenheim. A romanian MAN rear-ended a hungarian truck. The driver of the MAN tried to avoid the accident by turning onto the hard shoulder, but rammed the right side of the trailer. Both trailers became wedged.
The driver and the passenger of the Romanian MAN were severely hurt and transported into a hospital. The driver of the Hungarian truck was not injured.
A specialised crash investigation team (German: VU-Team) secured the evidence on the scene.
A recovery company lifted up the roof of the red trailer, secured the hanging parts and brought it onto a yard. Another recovery company towed the MAN and its trailer seperately.
