1191 – Battle of Arsuf: During the Third Crusade, English King Richard I (Richard the Lionheart) defeated Saladin's forces at the Battle of Arsuf. This was a significant victory for the Crusaders in their quest to reclaim Jerusalem from Muslim control.
1822 – Brazil Declares Independence from Portugal: Brazil declared its independence from Portugal on this day. The event, known as "Sete de Setembro" (September 7), marks Brazil’s National Independence Day. Dom Pedro I, the son of the Portuguese king, proclaimed Brazil's independence and became the country's first emperor.
1921 – First Miss America Pageant Held: The first Miss America Pageant took place in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The event, originally intended to attract tourists to the beach resort, became an annual competition and eventually one of the most famous beauty pageants in the world.
