How To Enable The Console for CS:S, CS:GO, Half-Life 2, etc.
If your keyboard does not have the default key, you can assign a new one to operate the console on almost every SourceEngine-based game.
Steps:
1. Right click on your game on steam, select "Properties" and then "Launch Options".
2. Type "-console" to see the console pop-up when the game is launched.
3. Launch the game. On the console, assign a new key (TAB, F1, NUMPAD1, etc.) by typing: bind "KEY" "toggleconsole" . Please note that spacing and the use of " is required.
4. See if works. You may have to "unbind" the key before binding it to the new one.
5. Close the game, remove what you've added to the launch options in step 2.
