Filmed during the Toronto COVID-19 lockdown, Carmen Romero performs a flamenco-inspired dance to Hauser’s “Oblivion.” Blending longing, nostalgia, desire, and resilience, she explores movement beyond traditional flamenco, expressing loss and the need to carry on. This powerful piece reveals the dance languages within her, inspired by solitude and hope.
Although Carmen is primarily known as a flamenco dance artist, she also crafts innovative contemporary works for non-Spanish dancers such as the National Ballet of Canada. She delights in exploring her unique dance language through artists from diverse genres, and continually seeks new artistic opportunities.
