Hi, in this article I'm going to explain what mineral moon editing is and how you can do it in Lightroom quickly and easily.
Mineral moon editing involves highlighting the natural colors of the lunar surface, which depend on the chemical composition of the rocks and dust that cover it.
These colors are very subtle and not visible to the naked eye, but with a little editing we can make them more visible and create spectacular images of our satellite.
To do mineral moon editing in Lightroom, we need a photo that is already stacked and in focus, to obtain the maximum possible detail. If you don't know how to do this, I recommend watching my previous tutorials where I explain step-by-step how to achieve this result using PIPP, Autostakkert, and Registax:

Once we have our stacked and focused photo, we open it in Lightroom and follow these steps:
1. Adjust the white balance to your liking. You can use the eyedropper tool to select a neutral area of the image or move the temperature slider until you're happy with the result.
2. Increase the clarity and texture to highlight the details of the lunar surface.
3. Reduce the contrast and brightness to prevent overexposure of the highlights. 4. We adjust the shadows and blacks to recover detail in the darkest areas.
5. We increase the saturation and vibrance to enhance the moon's colors.
6. We use the HSL panel to adjust the hue, saturation, and brightness of each color individually. We can use the color picker tool to click on the image and drag the mouse up or down to modify the value of the selected color.
7. We apply some noise reduction and sharpening if necessary.
8. We crop the image if we want to remove black borders or change the composition.
And that's it! We now have our mineral moon edit in Lightroom.
