I learned this Scottish murder ballad from my father, Stewart Cameron. In it a young woman (apparently to conceal a forbidden love affair) goes into the forest to bear twin sons and then murders them. Then one day she sees two young boys playing and, not realizing that they are the ghosts of her own children, tells them how well she would dress them if they were hers. They answer that they once were hers, and they tell her of the damnation that awaits her.
