HackTheBox - Lame
In this Hack the box episode we are hacking the box lame. We use our new tool zenmap to scan the ports of lame where we find 4 open ports one of which is an ftp server and two samba services we attempt to do an anonymous log in to the ftp server which works but yields nothing of value. Once we search for an exploit for the ftp server we find that it does not lead to pwning the box either. So last we focus out attention on the samba service. This quickly leads us to finding an exploit that works using searchsploit. Using metasploit we are able to launch the exploit and gain root access to the box. This was an very easy hackthebox box. From here on out things should start to get a bit more interesting though.
