Deck The Halls With Roland MC707
The MC707 is a fantastic groove box but it’s also an amazing multitimbral synth/sampler/drum machine when hooked up to a keyboard controller like the Roland A-300Pro, like I’m using here!
No need for a computer! Here I’m playing sounds from Roland’s new Zen-Core synth engine built into the MC-707!
I’ve sampled (purchased license from tracklib.com) an orchestral Christmas carol piece. I’ve also used one of the included drum loop sequence clips, but edited it to fit my arrangement. Then I’ve recorded myself playing the synth bass, electric piano and synth brass internal synth sounds from the keyboard which are all playing back from different scenes which I’m selecting on the fly. I’ve edited the MC-707 synth and drum sounds to my liking by altering the many different parameters and effects included. I’ve made this video with two iPhones, one hooked up to Roland’s GO:MIXER PRO which records the audio directly to the video in the iPhone while my wife is shooting me with her iPhone. Ouch! 😂
I finish off the track by using “Scatter” a bunch of programmable effects that can sweep, slice, delay, mash or completely destroy (in a good way) your music!
