Hi everybody welcome back.
In this episode I am constructing a #mezzanine. Here you can see the space.
This room is 5 m tal lso enough height for a in between floor.
In the 3d model I can show you the elements.
The new wall is a 2 by 4 inch or 44 by 95 mm stud wall. 16 inch or 400 mm on center.
And on one side ½” osb and on both sides plasterboard.
The floor have a 2 by 6” or 44 by 145 mm beams. And on top ¾ “ plywood.
The beams touching the walls are bolted and screwed tot he walls and the new wall is mounted to the floor and wall.
The wall #frame is assemble on the floor and then lifted into place.
My buddy jeffrey is helping me. He makes very refined furniture, visit his website below and go support him.
Then the first sheet of osb is installed to make the wall square.
AFter that I made mounting preparations tot he walls. I thoroughly checked where to mount the timbers tot he walls.
I also checked with the customer and previous builder where structural elements where in the walls.
Then the receiving brackets could be attached to the wall. These tie into the beam aswell as support them.
This first beam gets bolted tot he wall apart from the screw connections to the other timbers.
Haveing asecond hand speeds things up quite nicely.
When I was attaching beams and screws Jeffrey put all the sheets to the frame. And then we placed the put the plywood on the floor.
If I wood do this on my own I would use smaller sheets but it’s a lot more controlled and gentle doing this with two persons.
The underside of the mezzanine will be bare wood and will be a walk in closet so we placed the pretty side of te wood down.
The next step was placing the plaster board on the wall. This good for fire safety and rendering the surface flat.
Then I could do some finishing step. Painting the metal white and covering the rough edges.
And then the construction was finished.
After this I did some more work on making the balustrade and sliding doors but I could not spend the time documenting this as well.
But I can show you the results of the total. #construction
Thanks for watching!
