The Ministry of Government announced the suspension of talks with indigenous representatives from Imbabura, arguing that the demands raised altered the initial terms of the process. According to the statement, the Federation of Quichua Peoples of the Sierra Norte requested the inclusion of organizations such as CONAIE, Cuarrunari, and Fenosin, whose leaders did not participate in the previous negotiations, which would have modified the established commitments.
The authorities also noted that the roads in the area have not yet been cleared, preventing the resumption of the meetings. In response, the indigenous representatives reiterated their willingness to engage in dialogue on the agreed-upon issues and continued their mobilizations against the military presence in the communities.
