Kiril was adopted as a cub by the Doctor and sees him as a father figure. The Doctor does care about him but not enough to not follow the kings orders.
Azazel faked a message from the king and gave it to the Doctor, instructing him to make Kiril into a guard that can run very fast and wield any weapon, and will follow any orders and be very loyal(his goal was to create “The perfect soldier”).
What is a shapeshifter:
A shapeshifter/Metamorphosis is a creature from limbo who can shapeshift what ever form they like(the only catch is that they can transform in what ever they’ve seen). The are divided in 3 different ranks, the more complicated the eye pattern is the stornger they are(Kiril is the weakest(circle), Sebastian is 2nd(rhombus)and Noah is the strongest(star)) their eyes contain 3 colors(Magenta, blue and yellow) they also bleed Magenta with blue. Their real forms Is like a huge mammal with only the males have horns and females don’t
What happened to Kiril:
You can make a shapeshifter transform limb by limb into whatever you want by stimulating different areas of its brain. [A shapeshifter can only normally transform into something it's already seen, and Kiril is the lowest rank of shapeshifters so it would be very difficult for him to keep a complex form.]
The Doctor transforms Kiril into a centaur by stimulating the brain. However, he has all six of those giant pincers working on a rather small brain. The part of the brain that controls Kiril's head is overstimulated and ends up becoming severely misshaped.
The Doctor sees no other choice but to cover him up with a cloth because the damage is done. And the sight of the damage that was so severe anyone who sees his face will immediately drop down in disgust, chills will go down your spine and you will barf.(There’s a scene where the Centaur and Sebastian fought each other and Sebastian manages to take of the centaurs cloth and not even 5 seconds in, he puked and was drowned in fear).
My way of explaining about what happened to Kiril(simple asf)🌞🍷:
Imagine a cocroach, and u poke its brain with a needle. Some of Its limbs will move If you puncture the right areas In the brain. Now imagine doing the same thing but on a Supernatural creature with shapeshifting abilities. If done correctly, you can turn their left arm Into a griffins claw, Its lower limb a horse, BOOM🌝
