Is spring cleaning really a thing? 🫧🤷♀️
Spring Cleaning.
It’s not that I had anything against it, I just always found it strange how people needed to clean in the springtime. It seemed like a Ma Ingalls thing, refilling straw mattresses and cleaning bedding that needed the spring sunshine to get dry again.
But that was before I lived with the seasons. When my days were the same, in and out. Work, church, frozen broccoli, dishes.
It wasn’t a huge intentional shift, but the more time I spend in my home, the more I start to notice these things, like the windows I don’t want to clean because it’s cold. As we start to grow a garden and gather animals (we just hatched 33 quail!), I am more aware of new life in the spring, motivated to prepare for winter, (hopefully) will revel in reaping the different harvests of autumn, and be able to slow down and enjoy the sunshine of the summer.
So for now, this is how I am living with the seasons, and seeking that simpler life. Washing curtains and watering baby plants. Next week it will be something different. To live is an awfully big adventure.
