Claudette is a first freshener, so I didn't want to be too involved because sometimes a FF can be a little apprehensive about the whole motherhood thing, so I wanted to be sure she was able to bond with the baby uninterrupted. Sometimes they get freaked out by this new experience and look at the baby like it's an alien that just invaded their space. I still stuck around until I saw that the baby was nursing successfully, and of course, we weighed it so that we would be able to track its weight gain to be sure it was getting enough milk.
