Why I’m Using Virtual Machines to Learn Hyprland on Arch Linux (QEMU/KVM)
In this video, I’m using virtual machines to test and customize Hyprland on Arch Linux using QEMU/KVM and Virt-Manager. VMs are a great way to experiment with Linux distributions and desktop environments without risking your main system, especially when dealing with frequent updates and breaking changes.
I walk through my current Hyprland setup, recent update issues, window rules errors, and how I’m temporarily commenting things out while learning the new config changes. I also show my keybindings, theming progress, Waybar tweaks, Dolphin theming, GTK/QT setup, and how everything feels performance-wise inside a virtual machine.
