Lincoln Heritage House | One Room Schoolhouse | Freeman Lake Park
Enjoy this summertime visit to Freeman Lake Park as we tour the Lincoln Heritage House and the Summit One Room Schoolhouse. The Lincoln Heritage House is a log cabin built circa 1789 by Thomas Lincoln, the father of 16th President Abraham Lincoln. This beautiful structure sits on the banks of Freeman Lake, in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. Thomas did the carpentry and cabinet work on the four-room log structure, built ca. 1805. The beloved and historic double cabin was mostly destroyed by fire in 2009 but was later restored to its original state.
We also get a tour of the One Room Schoolhouse which was first opened on July 7, 1892 in Summit, Kentucky. In September, 1978, the schoolhouse was relocated to its current location in Freeman Lake Park.
You can also fish in Freeman lake, off the banks or off the pier, as well has paddle boat around the lake. Be sure to feed the ducks before you leave this beautiful park!
