Talented singer-songwriter Luke McCarthy explains how he’s moved from making #MusicinPrisons with the Irene Taylor Trust to working with us on #SoundingOut, which supports him to further develop his musicianship, provides a platform to be heard and to share his skills with young artists on our #MakingTracks programme as a Support Musician
The Irene Taylor Trust has been running ‘Music in Prisons’ projects since 1995; in 2012 we developed the ‘Sounding Out’ programme to support the people we’d met in prison on their release. We celebrated a decade of this work in the community in 2022 with a special collaborative project and performance at Rich Mix, bringing musicians from ‘Sounding Out’ together with young artists from ‘Making Tracks’, which is also marking its 10th anniversary
