Brief Description:
Life Line is a short film set in the beautiful beaches and natural landscape of the Bouddi peninsula (particularly Putty Beach and Hardys Bay). It follows the dreamlike journey of a young girl grieving her dead mother who she lost to the ocean.
The film explores a timeless tale shared by many in seaside communities, losing a loved one to the beautiful yet brutal ocean. Set in a black and white world, the tone of the film is sombre and melancholic, reflecting the sadness this memory brings her. The rope actualises the unspoken tether between mother and daughter that resonates with me as a young woman. Her final realisation, shown by her mother's message, portrays how even when we are surrounded by darkness, you can always find love and support. Additionally, 'Life Line' represents our current zeitgeist, where the burdens of isolation can make us forget those that care for us and that our strength as people is when we're together.
