I hilled potatoes with a walk-behind tractor and weeded them on June 1. The temperature is very low, there are heavy rains. The whole garden is in weeds.
I do blind hilling of potatoes with a Salute 100 walk-behind tractor with a disc hiller. (Blind hilling - pre-emergence hilling of potatoes should not be confused with the first hilling). Blind hilling with a walk-behind tractor increases the yield of potatoes. Blind hilling is done up to three times, but I will do it only once. The main thing is not to miss the moment and do all three hillings before the potato shoots appear.
I tried to hill with a walk-behind tractor with a single-row hiller (in a standard version and with extended ears), I did not like it. Hilling with a disc hiller went "excellently".
I also weed the rows of potatoes with the Vector cutter. I couldn't do the hilling with the Vector walk-behind tractor, because it had already come out above the soil surface. The bushes are small. If you cover them, it will only do harm. I tried with small metal lugs. It turned out too narrow. I installed a short rotary tiller/weeder. It worked out great.
