Erin Khar talks about using heroin until it didn’t work anymore. Heroin kept her alive, she said. Without taking drugs, she could not escape her suicidal thoughts.
This clip is from Khar’s book launch 🚀 at the Brooklyn bookstore: Books Are Magic.
Here she is saying that she finally realized that heroin wasn’t working anymore. She never wants to go back to that life.
She realized that drugs were not going to do what she wanted them to. Instead she went into therapy to uncover what was underneath. What was driving her chronic relapses.
With help, Khar learned how to change. Beneath the drugs was depression and a compelling desire to die. She had to go back through her life and discover who she was.
Her memoir, STRUNG OUT: And Other Lies That Nearly Killed Me, is a must read. To hear more from Erin Khar go to: https://www.thefix.com/strung-out-int...
