Africa is the third largest continent on the planet, made up of 54 countries with enormous diversity of climates, landscapes, and cultures.
To facilitate our studies, we can divide Africa into two large areas: North Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa, with the Sahara Desert as the main dividing line.
Did you know that the African continent is very rich in mineral resources, especially oil, gold, diamonds, copper, uranium, among others? But how can such a rich continent be so poor at the same time? The answer lies in its process of colonization and exploitation by major world powers such as Europe and the United States.
Even after political independence, many African countries did not achieve economic dependence. Their fragile political organization, the presence of various ethnicities and cultures within the same national territory, the presence of dictatorial governments, and the presence of armed militias have generated intense conflicts and wars, hindering the development of countries and exacerbating social problems.
