Running API samples - cardiac markers (triage meter)
API - American Proficiency Institute provides our lab with "proficiency" samples to ensure that our testing staff and machines are generating appropriate results. We submit results to API who then tells us if our result is accurate, allowing us to identify potentially bad testing technique or analyzer problems.
Cardiac markers - 1.) Remove specimen and allow to warm to room temperature for at least 45 minutes but not more than two hours. 2.) Turn on the Triage meter. 3.) Select "run test" and hit enter. 4.) Select "misc. test" and hit enter. 5.) Inoculate one d-dimer cartridge and one cardiac panel cartridge with a pipette of the API sample. 6.) Once the sample has filtered down into the cartridge, insert the cartridge into the triage meter and hit enter to begin running the test. 7.) Print your name, the date, and the specimen you ran on the "attestation" form.
