Texas A&M often employs a team-oriented, interdisciplinary approach to tackle large and difficult scientific challenges. Among them is cancer. The University has established a system that allows investigators to take new cancer therapies from concept to development to testing entirely on campus. This approach is leading to breakthroughs such as targeted drugs, which shut down a tumor while leaving healthy tissue intact, as well as therapies designed to combat drug-resistant cancers. The overall goal is to improve how doctors diagnose specific subtypes of cancer while also delivering cancer therapies that are more specific and appropriate.
