Dr. Richard Malak, assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University, is part of an interdisciplinary team that explores the possibilities of self-folding structures using shape memory alloys, which can take on different shapes and configurations. The team's research is inspired by origami, the Japanese art of folding paper. To find out more visit their website: http://origami.tamu.edu.
