This song cuts to the longing in the depths of my heart every time. We know from the bible that our God is a miracle maker. He can and does heal people all the time. When the Dr. proclaimed that my dad, Tae Pin Yun, only had months to live God chose to give him 15+ more years (a miracle). When you speak to countless other believers you hear story after story of God’s good healing grace. God does heal people.
But what about when God doesn’t heal? Does that mean He doesn’t love you? Does that mean He doesn’t care?
I (Hwang) had emergency brain surgery June 2, 2021. I had been acting a little odd…. more than usual. 😉 So we went in to the ER and got a scan where they found 2 tumors: 1 the size of a baseball on my right frontal lobe that needed to be removed right away, and a second smaller tumor on my left acoustic nerve (inside my skull also). People all over the world prayed for me and the outcome was good. The surgery was a success, the tumor was benign, and I healed up really quick.
What should have been a celebratory 6 week follow up turned in to more of a plan of attack on the second tumor. ☹ With no time to rest and relax I was mentally preparing for the pain and emotional trauma that was to follow. It would have been sweet if God chose to heal me and restore my hearing loss so I could avoid a second brain surgery. But He must have different plans to redeem and restore me. My second surgery is scheduled for Jan 31, 2022.
There is a list of people who we have interceded for and prayed for complete healing. God has answered some of those prayers and we are still waiting for some. Hana Yun(Hole in her heart), Emilia Yun(bone cancer), Emma Harbour (Health), Michael Koenen (Health), Lynnette Randerson (cancer). We have prayed and will continue to pray like the persistent widow in Luke 18. You are all near and dear to us.
We believe He is our healer. He is all we need.
