Have you ever heard from a vocal coach or somewhere online that singing early in the morning is forbidden or very dangerous? Some even write that the voice awakens two hours after waking up, or only around lunchtime. Moreover, no one provides any evidence other than personal experience. The main arguments of proponents of this approach are: "The vocal cords need to warm up from speaking. If you sing right away, you'll get nothing but cramps," "The voice sleeps until 12 o'clock, so my teachers always explained to me that practicing before then is not recommended." They also add superstitions like, "Whoever sings before breakfast will cry before bed."
But what really happens to your vocal apparatus after waking up?
Hello! My name is Olga Afanasyeva. I'm the founder of musicstory.school, a graduate of the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music, a student of Greg Enriquez, and a vocal coach with 20 years of experience. I don't have any unique methods, secret techniques, or magic pills that will make you sing instantly. I work consistently and individually with each student, helping them achieve their goals step by step. I share all the vocal techniques and tricks honestly and in detail on my blog.
