One of the most beautiful songs composed by Cole Porter in 1944. This one was inspired by the great Keith Jarrett and Charlie Haden on their special recording Last Dance. I'm using Keith's changes here and playing it in the same key (F) as they did. More piano vids up on my YT channel Ed Saindon Piano and FB page Ed Saindon Piano. The piano was just tuned by Michael Blanchard who is a great guy and brilliant at tuning and refurbishing pianos.
Side story: I was looking for a grand piano during my sabbatical a few years ago and kept looking and looking. I was ready to buy a new one at 30K or more and found this gorgeous Yamaha grand from the 70's which was in beautiful shape. It has a great sound and feel and is always a pleasure to sit at and play. It also costs me a lot less than 30K. Now that I'm not at Berklee where I used to play the grands all of the time, I can now play this piano anytime. I'm very fortunate to be able to do that. I love playing the piano and whenever I learn a new song or I'm working on an improv concept, I always start with the piano. I also get a lot of inspiration from the great classical pianists like Horowitz, Argerich, Brendel, Arrau, Richter, Perahia, Rubinstein, ...The bonus is that playing the piano has greatly informed my vibraphone playing. 🙂
