How To Select Consecutive Objects With Illustrator's Layers Panel
There used to be a trick with holding down the Alt key which doesn't work anymore in current version and there are workarounds with locking and unlocking which don't work when there are other objects that are supposed to be locked. Thankfully there is also a straight ahead method of selecting.
