In this video, I talk about Opuntia subulata, a succulent characterized by cylindrical stems that appear to form small trees.
Eve's needle is a highly ornamental cactus, thanks in part to its tubercles, which, with the right exposure, change color from yellow to green to bright red. The small spines are sparsely spaced along the plant, making it minimally invasive for indoor cultivation. Easy to care for and fast-growing, it can tolerate temperatures as low as a few degrees below zero: a versatile and widely used plant.
Interesting fact: About 2,000 years ago, Eve's needle spines were used by the indigenous people of Peru for sewing. This succulent plant commonly grows in the wild in arid pastures or riverbanks. It is frequently used to decorate gardens in hot climates and is also grown in pots.
