Space Debris Day Special Guests:

Dr. Alyssa Manis
Alyssa is the Radar and Optical Measurements Lead in the NASA Orbital Debris Program Office. She oversees the processing and analysis of radar and optical data for use in building and validating orbital debris models, in particular the NASA Orbital Debris Engineering Model (ORDEM). This involves integrating the data into the model populations and incorporating feedback on how to improve measurements for improved models.

Dr. Aaron J. Rosengren
Aaron is an Assistant Professor in the Jacobs School of Engineering and the Center for Astrophysics & Space Studies at the University of California San Diego. He previously served from 2017-2020 as an Assistant Professor in the College of Engineering and of the Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Applied Mathematics at the University of Arizona. He completed his postdocs at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Greece in the Department of Physics (2016-2017), as a member of the EU H2020 Project, REDSHIFT, and at the Institute of Applied Physics Nello Carrara of the Italian National Research Council (2014-2016), as a member of the EU FP7 Marie Curie Initial Training Network, Stardust. He held visiting researcher positions at the University of New South Wales, Canberra in Australia, the Norman and Helen Asher Space Research Institute at Technion in Israel, the University of Rome Tor Vergata in Italy, and the Belgrade Astronomical Observatory in Serbia. Dr. Rosengren is Fellow of the Outer Space Institute (OSI) for the sustainable development of Space at the University of British Columbia and a Research Affiliate of the Center for Orbital Debris Education and Research (CODER) at the University of Maryland. He gained international recognition in the fields of astrodynamics, space situational awareness, and dynamical astronomy, and his research has been supported by AFOSR, NOAA, the Department of Commerce, the Universities Space Research Association (USRA), the Australian Space Environment Research Centre (SERC), DARPA, and NSF. Dr. Rosengren currently serves as a member of the Ann and H.J. Smead Aerospace Engineering Sciences External Advisory Board and as the Chair-Elect for the American Astronautical Society (AAS) Space Surveillance Technical Committee. He received the ``COSPAR Outstanding Paper Award For Young Scientists'' on four occasions and his manuscript co-authored with J. Daquin and colleagues was nominated by Springer-Nature as one of the ``180 groundbreaking articles that could help change the world.''
