The WDR BIG BAND plays together with Dave Stryker his composition "Shadowboxing" in an arrangement by Bob Mintzer. Principal conductor Bob Mintzer leads the WDR BIG BAND. In addition to Dave Stryker on guitar, other solos include Paul Heller on tenor saxophone and Hans Dekker on drums. Not a usual concert where the WDR Big Band sits on stage and the audience is seated in front of it. In the concert series "Pure Sounds" it is different: the WDR BIG BAND sits in the middle of the audience in a small theater. The focus is on large-scale jazz, but it is also about new acoustic and visual impressions. For the audience, it's about being there and experiencing it up close: Jazz up close and personal!
