For me, the day dedicated to love ended with a rededication to Love. The person, I mean.
This song is a story, one that started almost 4 years ago when I found the only person with the power to make me whole. Or, more accurately, He found me. My life completely changed.
He taught me what love really is: Unconditional, unending, unyielding, unselfish, all encompassing. I was filled with joy in a way that I’d never been before, had perfect peace in a pandemic that reached to my core. And I had this constant longing to know more and more of this amazing, life changing Love.
But as often happens when we get something good, it’s easy for the sweet to become sour. Pride tries to contaminate the purity of this great Love. Or lesser loves to try to take its place. And we forget that we had tasted and seen how good this Love is. In and of itself, with nothing added.
But as ever, there’s grace. And the daily opportunity to embrace this costly Love that’s freely poured out. I need Love everyday.
Maybe you relate to a lot of what I state in the song, maybe some, maybe none. But I invite every listener, whether you’ve met Love before or wish to become newly acquainted, lean in and receive what’s already been given.
Because you live and love differently when you’re filled with Love.
1 John 4:16 reads:
We have come to know [by personal observation and experience], and have believed [with deep, consistent faith] the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides continually in him.
