In this video, we’re checking out an incredible piece of guitar history: a 1953 Gibson Les Paul Standard Goldtop. 🎸✨
📍 Filmed at Carter Vintage Guitars in Nashville on February 25, 2020, this guitar was owned by Ed King (of Lynyrd Skynyrd fame) and was priced at $40,000 USD with its original OHC case.
This original ’53 Goldtop features:
Iconic P90 pickups
Wraparound bridge with stock tailpiece
Massive chunky neck profile
Beautiful original finish, frets, and hardware
Serial number: 3 2788
For the demo, I cranked everything to 10 and plugged straight into a Marshall Class 5 amp. You’ll hear:
🎶 Bridge pickup (E chord)
🎶 Middle position (both pickups)
🎶 Neck pickup rhythm tones
The sustain, playability, and tone are simply unbelievable — a true vintage Goldtop experience.
